How to remove Bing from Firefox

How to remove Bing from the Firefox search bar (if it can't be removed in the normal way)

If Bing came installed with your Firefox browser and seems impossible to remove, this is how I removed it.

Answer :
Assuming all other solutions have failed, it may be worth trying this
I relpaced Bing as the 'default' search engine with Google

1. Type about:config in the Firefox address/url bar
2. Click the 'I'll be careful, I promise!' warning button
3. In the search bar that appears below the address bar, Type in 'Bing'
A couple of 'preference names' with the word 'Bing' should appear in the list
4. In the preference names list, change 'Bing' to 'Google' (or whatever search engine you want)
Save the changes
5. 'Google' or whichever search engine you chose should now be the default search engine

This is what worked with me but only a short time ago. I am yet to discover if Bing can over-rule this during any future main events.

Other possible solutions
Here is the solution I found on Ehow (link). (Did it work for me ? no)
